Respite care

Arranging respite care for a loved one can be a worrying prospect. Ensuring that they are well cared for and comfortable is part of your daily routine and they know and trust you. However, there are times when you need a break or at the very least some help and support. As the primary carer for a loved one, it can be as tiring as it is rewarding.

Respite care

Most people who are being cared for at home have taken the decision to remain in the comfort and familiarity of their own home. Therefore even temporarily moving to some sort of residential accommodation can prove to be a stressful and anxious experience.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

We can provide top-class respite care, giving you the break you need. Whether it is for a couple of hours a week, a short holiday, or the occasional night, we can help.

Following a telephone conversation to discuss the needs of you and your loved one, we will arrange a visit to get to know you both and put together a care plan. We will work with you and other healthcare professionals (such as doctors and nurses) to establish a suitable routine for your respite care. It is important that you can relax, knowing your loved one is in excellent hands.

Our family-run business has a hand-picked team of carers, with many years of experience of looking after people at home. Our warm and friendly approach to care, combined with our years of experience means that when you need a break, you can be confident that your loved one is in good hands.

The benefits of respite care are many but by far the greatest is allowing carers that break they need. Often caring for someone is a full-time occupation but even if this is not the case it can still be exhausting, frustrating, and lonely.  That is not to say it is not also a rewarding, positive, and fulfilling experience. However, the opportunity to take a break for both the person doing the caring and the person receiving care can often benefit everyone.

Common benefits of respite care

  • Reduces stress for the carer and family – often leading to greater levels of patience
  • Relieves feelings of frustration and exhaustion increasing well-being
  • Allows carer time to interact with family, friends, and the wider community
  • Improved relationship between carer and cared for
  • Allows the person receiving care valuable interaction with other people
